Upcoming 2024 Legislative Program

2024 Legislative Policy Committee & Legislative Requests from Kansas Counties

The Legislative Policy Committee (LPC) is an important part of the process in developing the KAC Legislative Policy Statement, which guides KAC advocacy during the legislative session. The policy committee is made up of the KAC governing board, as well as representatives from the Sheriff’s Association, Association of Community Mental Health Centers, the Planning and Zoning Association and the County Administrators Association.

The LPC will meet at least twice this year, as in other years. This year, however, we are making a small change to the schedule. Since the KAC Annual Conference & Exposition is December 5-7, 2023, we are moving the policy committee meetings back one month.

The first meeting will be Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 2 PM CT.

The second meeting will be Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 2 PM CT.

The meetings will be held in Topeka in conjunction with the KAC Governing Board Meetings on the same day. Location information will be distributed well in advance of the meetings. We will also have a virtual option for those who cannot attend in-person in Topeka.
